Low Wind Load Spearhead Panel Antenna

Low Wind Load Spearhead Panel Antenna

The ADB Low Wind Load Spearhead Panel Antenna is a versatile FM CP antenna. The high performance will optimise system cost by adding minimum loading to the tower.  Moreover, the galvanised steel construction of both the screen and the dipole assembly assures long, trouble-free service.  Moreover, it provides a high-quality circular polarisation.  This results from the quadrature feed to the two arms of the crossed dipole.

Low Wind Load Spearhead Panel Antenna derives from the successful standard Spearhead antenna.  The construction also minimises the loading imposed on the supporting structure. Achieved while still retaining high power handling and good bandwidth performance. This panel is multi-channel ready across a 10MHz range anywhere in the FM band of 87.5 to 108MHz. Each operating channel achieves a VSWR of 1.1:1.

The focus provides excellent omnidirectional radiation patterns.  This results from using three panels per tier around triangular towers.  Spearhead panels provide a 6dB beam-width of 120deg. A combination of unequal power division and appropriate phasing provides the facility for a range of directional patterns.

Furthermore, round cross-section members provide reduced wind loading.  GRP covers to protect the dipole feed points from the weather without electrical deicing.  This greatly increases reliability and also reduces operating costs. The careful selection of materials, conductors and dielectrics, as well as the pressurisation of the feed system, are key features.
